Case Study
A client was running Siemens NX CAD software across multiple workstations, with each user assigned a dedicated software license. While effective, this model created significant cost inefficiencies — when employees were on leave or not using the software, those licenses remained idle, costing the business tens of thousands of dollars annually in unused capacity.
Zone Technology implemented a centralised licensing solution using Microsoft Azure and Cloudflare Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) to optimise license usage and improve accessibility. A dedicated licensing server was deployed in Azure to manage shared Siemens NX licenses, with Cloudflare ZTNA providing a secure, encrypted tunnel between end users and the cloud-hosted server.
This design enabled dynamic license assignment, ensuring users could securely connect from any location while significantly reducing total license requirements, improving flexibility, and delivering immediate cost savings.
